1.1.2. Position of cartography in the system of sciences

Like many other scientific disciplines, cartography is nowadays located in the intersection of several fields of human activities. Utilization of maps is wide-spread in many different situations; other disciplines provide data and/or develop methods of processing and presentation of data. Therefore, cartography can be nowadays placed in the intersection of technical, mathematical, natural, philosophical, political, and social sciences.
